(JSWI)Jiangsu Surveying and Design Institute of Water Resources
Co., Ltd. (originally called as Jiangsu Surveying and Design
Institute of Water Conservancy) was established in 1957.
It is one of units qualified class A in this field in China.
Now the corporation has 7 class A qualifications in engineering
design, engineering consultation, consultation of engineering
cost, engineering construction supervision, hydrology and
water resources assessment, soil and water conservation
planning and water resources appraisal in construction items
etc. The corporation also has 6 class B qualifications in
appraisal consulting of water projects, water transportation,
industrial and civil engineering, environmental pollution
control, municipal engineering and assessment of environmental
protection, consultation of harbor engineering. It has also
owned a ‘license of engineering contracting and labor cooperation
abroad ’, and gained the certificate in quality system standard:
ISO9001 in 2000.
Since founded in 1957, the corporation
has undertaken the surveying and planning of Huaihe River,
Yangtze River Basin and regional plan in Jiangsu province.
It also undertook the designs of many large pumping stations,
sluices, reservoirs, locks, bridges, culverts, docks, industrial
and civil architectures, the engineering construction supervision
and a dozen of projects to help developing foreign countries.
Entrusted by Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power,
the corporation participated and/or took charge in compiling
a lot of specifications and regulations such as Design Specification
for Sluice, Design Code for Pumping Station and Design Specification
for Hydraulic Retaining Wall. It takes the leads in the
construction of sluices in plain regions where the water
level is low, the handling and design of the foundation
where the soil is very soft and in the design of low-head
pumping stations. Recently the corporation has undertaken
and/or is undertaking the following main projects: the project
of South-to North water diversion, the project of discharging
the Huaihe River water to the East Sea, levee reinforcement
of Xinyi River and Xinshu River, renovation of Yangtze River,
widening and dredge of the Grand Canal, the project of Tongyu
River, the river for transporting Yangtze River water to
Taizhou, the project of transporting clean water into Qiangwei
River, embankment projects of seas and rivers etc.
The corporation has always attached
great importance to technological advancement, steady rise
in the quality of the products and training of its personnel.
It has 144 technical personnel of all levels, including
67 people with senior titles. 96 people have registered
technical licenses of all kinds. Since 1982, it has been
awarded more than 90 national, ministerial or provincial
prizes, including 3 gold medals and 3 bronze medals for
national excellent project design. It has also awarded titles
such as ‘Advanced Water Conservancy Unit of Jiangsu Province’,
‘Credit Unit for Developing Northern Jiangsu’, ‘Credit Unit
for the River for Transporting the Yangtze River Water to
Taizhou’ and ‘Discharging the Huaihe River Water to the
Sea’ by Jiangsu provincial government, ‘Advanced Collective
for Excellent Planning and Design for the Project of South–to–North
Water Diversion’ by the Ministry of Water Resources and
‘Class AAA Honoring Contracts and Keeping Promise Enterprise’
by the Jiangsu provincial government and the National Industrial
and Commercial Administrative Bureau in 2004 respectively.
The corporation will adhere to the view of development

with good credit, excellent design and service, the corporation
is determined to do a better job and make new contribution
to the water resource causes and economic development of
